Microdermabrasion

What is Microdermabrasion?

Microdermabrasion is a minimally-invasive treatment that is used to stimulate natural skin rejuvenation. It works by removing the top layer of the skin that exhibits imperfections. After just one session, the skin takes on an improved tone and texture, although several sessions may be needed to address specific skin conditions to achieve the desired results.  There is no need to use anaesthesia during this treatment, and there is little to no downtime involved.

There are two types of microdermabrasion based on the device used, with both procedures having the goal of intensively exfoliating the skin and helping increase collagen production. The depth of the abrasion on the skin will depend on how long the suctioning device is held to the skin and the applied pressure.

Types of Microdermabrasion

Crystal Microdermabrasion – this type uses a handpiece that sprays microfine crystals onto the skin, gently rubbing off the outer layer in the targeted area to improve skin quality. The dead skin cells are immediately suctioned off so that the skin will not have debris left on the surface.

Diamond Microdermabrasion – a diamond-tipped instrument is used to gently exfoliate the outer layer of the skin while also ensuring that the removed skin cells are suctioned off at the same time. Also called Diamond Peel, this option uses a crystal-free applicator and is commonly used in areas of the face that are more sensitive, such as the skin surrounding the eye area.

Here at Kington Laser & Aesthetics Clinic, we use the well-loved Diamond Peel Dermabrasion to provide a non-surgical way to remove dead skin cells, delivering immediate and long-lasting results that you will immediately enjoy.
