• Laser Thread Vein Removal

Kingston Laser & Aesthetics use the ND Yag device off the Syneron Candela GentleMax Pro Laser device to treat thread veins of up to 3mm in diameter, without harming the surrounding tissue.

Thread veins are small unsightly superficial red, purple or blue veins that usually occur on the face and legs, although other parts of the body may be affected. These broken veins occur when the vein dilates and become larger so they are visible through the transparency of the skin. Although facial veins / spider veins are quite common they can cause some distress and embarrassment for those who have them.

As we age thread veins become more visible – this happens as skin becomes thinner, more fragile and more translucent. They tend to run in families and commonly appear in pregnancy (thought to be due to high levels of oestrogen). Being overweight and smoking also seem to increase the likelihood of developing them. Too much sunbathing, exposure to wind or extreme temperatures, steroid medicines and radiotherapy can also be factors. Jobs that involve prolonged standing may aggravate the condition, but they don't actually cause it.

Although you may not like the look of them, thread veins aren't dangerous, but they tend to become larger and increase in number over time. Thread veins do not signify any underlying medical problem, and are nothing to be concerned about, although many people do find them unsightly.
The laser technology carefully emits filtered light to ensure only the correct wavelength targets the vein only and not any surrounding tissue. This light is readily absorbed by blood vessels, converted to heat and destroyed. Following treatment, the vessels gradually and safely disappear as they are reabsorbed by the body, leaving little or no trace of the original lesion.
Treatments can take 15 minutes or longer depending on the extent of the condition and patients will see an immediate effect followed by a continued improvement.
The heat from the laser pulses may be slightly uncomfortable during and immediately following treatment. Most clients report a quick and tolerable sensation. Cooling aloe vera is applied to relieve these symptoms.
Veins may appear bruised or darker red following treatment similar to a 'cat scratch'. This discoloration will fade over the following weeks.
Many clients can be treated in just one session, depending on the extent of their condition. Some clients will need up to 3 sessions and your treatment programme will be tailored to your individual needs. Treatments are spaced about six to eight weeks apart, so it may take more than six months to achieve the final result.
